What is Let’s Take A Stand Against Alzheimer’s Disease?

The second annual Let’s Take A Stand Against Alzheimer’s Disease is a call to action and fundraising event organized by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA).

On Saturday, May 17, 2008, AFA invites organizations and individuals from coast to coast to stand united with us in a five minute observance of silence to dramatically emphasize the need for increased awareness of and attention to this disease state, while raising funds to support critical services for the estimated five million Americans with this heartbreaking disease, and their families.

Let’s Take A Stand marks a community gathering of strength in cities and towns across our nation with individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, family members, healthcare professionals and members of the community standing side by side to inform our nation that we all have a stake in the battle against this brain disorder.

Standing together, arms linked in solidarity, in silence, participants will send a powerful message that we are willing to plan together, work together and stand together to fight Alzheimer’s disease and related illnesses…a compelling image.
